The label owners said Sarah Jessica Parker specifically requested the silk piece be included in the scene where she cleans out the closet with her friends. Ascot Ladies Day Hat Parade

An array of gorgeous hats were on display at recent Ascot Race Day in London. Meanwhile, trackside at Ascot we learned women face being banned from the Royal Enclosure this year if their skirts are more than two inches above the knee or their tops have straps less than an inch wide.
Course chiefs have spelled out how to dress properly at one of the highlights of the Season and they have even warned about under-wear. Women, they advise, must wear "knickers", adding: "But not on show, please ladies!" Streaky fake tans are "a total fashion faux pas and there's no excuse".
A dress code for racegoers has been posted to each attendee with their ticket and is available on the Ascot website. No exceptions will be made this year and race course stewards will enforce the ban strictly. Indeed!

We're doing a feature on hat designers Katherine Elizabeth as we celebrate the best of Autumn Racing and more to come...Katherine Elizabeth is a London-based award-winning designer, whose hats are hand-crafted to ensure the highest standards, using sumptuous fabrics adorned by Swarovski crystals, delicate beading or the lightest of feathers.

She is currently designing millinery for Dita Von Teese, fashion Label 'Asudari ' (which featured her hats in Paris Fashion Week 08) and author Kit Berry. Katherine is also stylist for the band The Soho Dolls. We especially love the hat shown above, classic, intricate and beautifully handcrafted.

Feathers revival on International runways

Feathers are making a comeback in Fashion circles at the 2008 shows was the peacock feather -- the ultimate symbol of maleness. It was used to exceptional effect by John Galliano in a Dior dress whose overlapping pieces of fabric evoked peacock plumage.

Significantly, feathers were often twinned with tulle at the Paris shows, most strikingly in Chanel's wigs. The effect was dramatic to say the least.

Another reason for a revival of feathers on international runways may be that they serve as a fur substitute, offering warmth without weight and glamour without guilt. Yves Saint Laurent reproduced his famous fox-fur chubbies of 25 years ago in feathers for his fall collection. So keep an eye out for the latest in feather fashion from For you my Queen.

Hot Tips

1. It's a long way to the finishing post so pace yourself and re-hydrate yourself with water on a very regular basis.

2. Horses are not the only ones who need to be prepared for a day at the races. Always break in your shoes before you get the racetrack - if you are really serious take your track work outside and practice on the grass. The verdict from the style experts - don't sacrifice style for comfort - always wear shoes of the show off variety - it worked for Dorothy and Cinderella.
Don't go out the night before a big race day - you don't want to be a late scratching.

3. Always eat a sensible meal before you head to the race track - you do not want to be fuelled only by champagne.
Air kissing is rife at the racetrack. If you would rather shake hands be quick about it and get your hand out before they commence leaning in.
Plan your exit strategy in advance. No amount of tapping your heels together Dorothy style is going to get you home.

4. Start your 'tan' a few days in advance it will give you time to fix up any mishaps and intensify the colour.
Check your make up at regular intervals to make sure you are looking all day gorgeous.

5. A clutch bag is no good for the race track. It is impossible to hold a champagne glass, study a form guide and clutch onto a bag at the same time.
Looking fantastic at the race track doesn't have to break the bank. Become a shopportunist and invest in quality items that you will be wearing beyond the autumn carnival or re-energise your favourite dress with updated accessories. Find some fashionable friends and timeshare your hats.

Madonna wore one in the 80’s and the Greeks certainly wore them in more ancient times…The 1800's heralded changes in corsetry by leaps and bounds. During the Napoleonic Wars, a doctor with the French army invented a metallic eyelet, very kinky no? Eyelets added to corsets allowed them to be cinched even tighter without fear of damaging the fabric supporting the garment was on the bar instead of individual points.

So what is it about the modern day corset that we really love? Well for a start with modern corsets you can breath and they’ve definitely become a fashion statement.
